A small town guy, he did his schooling at Athavale Vinay Mandir, Sangli and HHRC Patwardhan High School, Sangli. He went on to Haribhai Deokaran Prashala, Solapur and attended Junior College at Sangameshwar College, Solapur.

A brilliant student from the beginning, his primary school promoted him from standard 3 to 5th. He, thus, passed SSC at the age of 14 & graduated at 20!

A scholar throughout, he won Primary and Secondary Scholarships. Acquired more than 97% marks in both PCB & PCM, in standard 12! He had a choice between Medical and Engineering! He actually wanted to become a Doctor, but was denied admission to the Medical college as he was underage. He graduated in Mechanical Engineering from Walchand College of Engineering, Sangli in 1985 & stood 6th in the University.

He was also a rank holder during his post graduation in Management. He has always been a versatile all-rounder and was active in his college days in sports and debates too. No ‘dull Jack’ with all study, he loves sports, socializing, partying and has plenty of friends

He is the Director and CEO of Autoline Dimensions Engineering Services Private Limited, a Pune based Global Engineering Services company. They specialize in Engineering Design and Support, Product Lifecycle Management Services and e-Manufacturing.

He has over 21 years of rich experience in diverse industries, mainly Manufacturing, Engineering & Retail IT Consulting. He has worked with several Global Corporate clients in the area of eBusiness, Business Process, Re-Engineering, ERP, SCM, Customer Relationship Management and Knowledge Management.

Deepak's 21 years of experience has taken him across several industries in scope of direct employment, training as well as consulting. He spent over 16 years in the IT department of Telco, now Tata Motors. His professional experience includes various assignments and responsibilities undertaken from 1985 to 2004 for Tata Motors, Tata Technologies, Zensar, Persistent Systems Pvt Ltd, Satyam Computer Services and Computer Society of India.


When the rest of the IT industry was busy only in offering services through ‘body shopping’ he pioneered marketing of the Software Product, Turbo Analyst, for bringing discipline in software development life-cycle. He was involved in setting up two B2B exchanges.

Everyone works for oneself... but distinct is the man who strives to bring about a change - a positive alteration around him, encompassing the society and life around him.


Deepak holds the coveted position of Chairman of the IT sub-committee of the Maratha Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Agriculture, Pune. He is also the Chairman (IT Applications) of Computer Society of India, a prestigious body of IT professionals in India. He counsels IT professionals for better career, becoming entrepreneurs and attracting IT investment to Pune.

An activist by nature, his mentor late Mr. Dewang Mehta nurtured him to realize this potential. In spite of all these activities, his priority is to develop Pune as an IT / BT hub. He is an active participant in the Pune Vyaspeeth’s efforts to attract IT / BT companies to Pune.

 

 
An Avid Traveler
 
 
He has visited 29 countries in the last 15 years for professional and personal reasons. He loves to travel. He has seen most of India, Mahabaleshwar, Goa and Kerala being his favorite holiday destinations. He hates to drive and is a good companion if you are willing to drive!

An Enthusiastic Rotarian
 
  Mr. Shikarpur is currently the President of Rotary Club, Shivajinagar, Pune and is leading very actively. He was a Rotaractor from the year 1982 - 85 and a Rotarian since the year 1991. He has brought the Club’s name to the forefront, deploying various innovative strategies.

‘One man makes the difference’ goes the saying in Management Principles. Given a similar situation, opportunities and resources, he makes the best of it, gives best results and is successful. Somebody who applies his mind, utilizes resources optimally, achieves the best results and surfaces as a leader. “I am not exaggerating when I say that Deepak Shikarpur is a person of this tribe” says Dr. Sudhir Rashingkar, Past District -Governor, Rotary dist 3130.

Year 2005 - 06, Deepak’s tenure as President, has seen the club perform excellent projects, thereby enhancing the image, which is Rotary’s area of high importance.

Trying to uplift standards of IT education is his passion and on a weekend you will find him tutoring students.

The University of Pune has appointed him the Chairman of Adhoc Board of Studies of Computer Management for revitalizing IT education in Pune. He is the member of Governing Council of Vishwakarma Institute of IT and Suryadatta Group of Management Institutes.

His Passion
 
 
When he is in town, he loves trekking the Vetal Tekdi, Parvati hills and National Defense Academy hills. He enjoys Badminton and Table Tennis, takes to water like a fish and even enjoys Bridge as nourishment to analytical and logical mind!

Walking is his passion too and many times you will find him walking the streets of Pune. And guess what, our multi-faceted personality loves Bollywood movies too and sometimes even attends premiers of new releases!

He has won many Table Tennis tournaments during his school / college years. He was selected to represent Shivaji University for the same in the year 1983. Also won many trophies in Table Tennis / Bridge at the Rotary Sports Hungama.
 

 
Spirituality
 
Deepak has faith in God. He seeks blessings of the almighty at the Kasba Ganapati, Dagadusheth Ganpati, Mali Maharaja Math Ravivar Peth and Datta Mandir near Kamla Nehru Park too.
 

 
Fun and Cheer
 
 
He is a light eater and enjoys simple home cooked food. His all time favorite are Shevayachi Kheer, Puran Poli, Missal, Kandepohe and Upama.


Low calorie sandwiches from Marzorin on Main Street or Dwarika on Laxmi Road make his gastric juices flow. He is a curd / buttermilk addict and in fruits he freaks out on apples, watermelon, papayas. He loves to snack at Vaishali on F C Road, his favorite being idli and dosa. He is a connoisseur of seafood and enjoys fish. Vanilla with hot chocolate is some thing he can’t resist. At parties you will see him either with black label or white wine or champagne.

He loves to party and celebrate success, his own and of friends too. He is generally the life of a party.
 

 
The Author and The Tutor
 
 
Deepak has been authoring various articles for newspapers and IT magazines. His contention is that more and more people should become aware about information technology.

He has promoted Pune on a range of platforms and focuses on helping people understand technology and benefiting from it. On an average he delivers 3 public lectures per month on enlightening people about IT.
 

 
The Family Man
 
 
He is married to Gauri a commerce graduate and post graduate in law. She is currently a classical music teacher and a versatile person in her own right.

They are blessed with a son Vedvrat who has just appeared for SSC exam. Vedvrat is an IT buff, outgoing and a potential model in 2010.
 
His parents, Vasudha and Vasudeo are enjoying their retired life in Pune.

His sister, Priya, a cost accountant, is married to Manoj Hardikar an entrepreneur and they have a son Tarang.
