Our youth is India’s tomorrow! I firmly believe if we
nurture our young talent as a pool of resource and shape them
like a sculptor, we will build a different India!
For long India has remained a poor country and many have started
justifying and glorifying poverty. Some have taken references
from religious / spiritual sources. I don’t subscribe
to that. Spirituality gives you vision and peace of mind.
It helps you understand the purpose of life and the secret
of happiness. Spirituality never tries to justify poverty.
We need to realize that education is a means to create wealth.
One need not be a conman or possess a silver spoon at birth,
to become rich. Such thinking is wrong, is futile and is the
only reason for failure.
The current era in Indian industrial history is one of the
best times. World over, Indians are gaining respect and getting
long overdue credit. Generation today, please don’t
miss this ‘Bus of Prosperity’!
Young talent must dream and have aspirations to become great
in life. I am one such small example of you. I have yet to
go a long way though. When I graduated in Engineering in 1985
and came to Pune from Sangli, I hardly new 20 people in Pune,
most of them my relatives. I come from a middle class background
and we were staying in a small flat, a family of 4. My father
used a Lambretta scooter all his life and I bought my first
scooter after working for 3 months in Telco. Using my knowledge
as an asset I created wealth and that too by fair means. Today
I have many assets at my disposal. But yes, I have a long
way to go.
There are many more successful people in India, who have become
rich and famous, coming from nowhere. This represents that
if one has the talent and the zest, one can make it !
Wealth creation by fair means is not a crime. I dream of an
India in 2020 where 10 crore people out of 120 crore nation,
are earning Rs 10 crore per annum. All these crorepatis pay
taxes as per the law of the nation, and thus contribute to
nation building.
Do strive to become rich - superrich. Our country offers lot
of opportunities to earn money by fair means. Please don’t
depend on the government to do something for us. We have to
learn to succeed despite the government. The talent rich IT
/ BPO industry has shown this to the world.
I am sure once you start earning well, you will do a lot for
the upliftment of the underprivileged class and participate
in nation building. Aspire to be entrepreneurs, value adding
consultants, service providers, senior level executives working
in Global Multinationals and so on. Once you are a part of
this category, the government becomes an irrelevant factor
and you become the government for many.
The New Pledge of 21st
Century
India is my country and all Indians living all over the globe
are my brothers and sisters. I love my country and I am proud
of its rich and varied heritage. I will strive to promote
‘Made / serviced / packaged in India’ brand globally.
I will create resources and provide many jobs, infrastructure
and improve my own standard of living and also help many to
improve their standards of living. I will not depend on someone
else to do this, but I will do this (come what may) and lead
and inspire others.
I shall give respect to my parents, teachers and all elders
and treat everyone with courtesy. I will imbibe right values
for the next generation. I will follow a fair value system
in my professional and personal life and will become role
model for others.
To my country and my people, I pledge my devotion. In their
well-being and prosperity alone lies my happiness.
Wealth creation as a strategic means of achieving above goals
is what will drive me for the next 3 decades.”
